We are seeking an experienced Sales Engineer (SE) for our sales team to help with the technical aspects of selling into these industries and working with industry professionals. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a technical sales role, implementation support role, engineering professional service role, or similar.

● Support direct sales and VAR sales
● Provide technical sales support for internal Inside Sales Representatives during the sales process
● Provide pre-sales qualification to determine technical needs of potential customers
● Research prospective customers and existing accounts to understand need, offer relevant consultation/support, and facilitate the retention of customers
● Present products and services in a way that would be beneficial to prospective
clients and existing customers
● Responsible for researching and answering variety of technical questions (API integration, SDK development, information security, privacy information protection, web production) for customers and internal teams
● Build and deliver technical sales training program and support materials for internal Inside Sales Representatives
● Build and deliver technical sales training program and support materials for VAR sales; be the first point of contact for VAR technical support issues
● Gather and distribute feedback from users to help improve the product; assist
the localization/internationalization of products (app, cloud) and systems
(website, support , backend systems)
● Attend, manage, and/or speak at trade shows, conferences, and online seminars for direct and VAR sales
● Be a technical evangelist for client
● Help customer support develop proper support materials to support all Japanese customers
● Proactively look for opportunities to improve the pre-sales, customer procurement
experience, customer implementation, technical support, customer relationship
management, and customer retention.
● Contribute to the overall direction and success of the AEC division
● The role will include travel in Japan


● Minimum 5 years of experience of sales engineering
● Experience working in the software development industry providing technical sales,
implementation support, engineering professional service for B-to-B customers and
● Strong familiarity of how to integrate and develop applications using SDKs and web APIs
● Familiarity with common web technologies and Javascript libraries
● Understanding of 3D (models, point clouds, images) related data and workflows prospective
clients would use with the capture system
● Experience with related software products and how our customers would use the Matterport
data in their downstream workflows
● Experience with image capture and 3D laser scanning technologies and workflows
● Knowledge with Autodesk, SketchUp, Procore, PlanGrid and related SW products is preferred
● Experience in a fast growing SaaS or IT company in Japan or previous career at Japanese
subsidiaries of US SaaS or IT company
● Creativity to approach sales and build customer relationships in groundbreaking new ways
● Negotiation and social problem-solving skills
● Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail
● Bachelor’s degree or technical college (Kotou Senmon Gakko) degree required. Masters
Degree is a plus
● Fluent in formal business Japanese (written and verbal) and comfortable working
(phone/video meetings, reading/writing emails & technical documents) in English
